A thought before our celebration of excessive eating as a declaration that we deserve all we have that others don’t.
Sodom
We often focus on some sins as being far worse than others. I agree some are. The sins we seem to have focused on recently as really bad are often associated with our sexuality.
We are quick to condemn those who become involved in sexuality we feel the Bible condemns.
Sexual immorality can be indicative of a person’s Spiritual, character or moral values. .
One favorite finger-pointing comes at the expense of Sodom. We say God destroyed Sodom because of their sexual practices especially homosexuality as indicative of how God views those sins. However, that Old Testament story is at times difficult to understand from our modern cultural setting. The Biblical commentary on it says: “Sodom’s sins were pride, gluttony, and laziness, while the poor and needy suffered outside her door.” Ezekiel 16:49 NLT
That should cause us to recheck our opinions of which sins God takes seriously.
